What is CyberPatriot?
CyberPatriot is the largest national high school cyber defense competition designed to excite, educate, and motivate the next generation of cyber defenders critical to our Nation’s future security. The competition has a tournament-style tiered structure with a series of web-based competition rounds and culminating in the national championship in National Harbor, Maryland in March 2013.
Become a Mentor Today!
If you have technical skills, work in the field of IT and/or cyber security and enjoy working with high-school age youth you would be a great mentor. Each CyberPatriot team has a mentor to provide technical expertise to help students learn about the technical aspects of CyberPatriot and prepare for the competition. Mentors need not be a part of the school faculty or staff, and are often willing community members who are technically proficient and enjoy helping youth explore an exciting and new technical field.
Benefits for Students and Schools:
•Provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on, practical knowledge that prepares them for post-secondary education and jobs in cybersecurity
•Raises awareness of an increasingly important national security concern in the school and in the community
•Presents a powerful lesson to students about the potential vulnerability of information put onto networks - from text messages and phone calls to Facebook and emails
Registration ends September 30, 2012
