Global Massachusetts
2015
Federal Reserve Bank, Boston, June 7, 2006
– For the third time, Bill Guenther, President of Mass Insight,
was invited to speak to the corporate and civic leaders gathered
at the John LaWare Leadership Forum, a new civic mechanism designed
to focus on the region’s opportunities and challenges in an
increasingly competitive global economy.
The John LaWare Leadership Forum was formed under the leadership
of Cathy Minehan, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank
of Boston, John Hamill, Chairman of Sovereign Bank New England,
and Paul Grogan, President and CEO of The Boston Foundation. It
has concentrated on regional challenges such as high housing costs,
innovation economy jobs, education reform, and leadership concerns
growing out of recent corporate consolidation and the loss of local
headquarters.
Bill Guenther has been an active participant in the LaWare Leadership
Forum from its inception. He presented at:
- The June meeting where he updated the group on the Global Massachusetts
2015 initiative and suggested ways to get involved.
- The May meeting which highlighted best practices currently
being used by North Carolina, a major competitor of Massachusetts.
- The kick-off session in November of 2005, that explored a core
set of regional competitiveness challenges including the high
cost of housing, the lack of an integrated education strategy,
a lack of positive regional branding and a weakened corporate
leadership.
