Beginning with four of the strategic alliance
opportunities identified in the Road Map report, Mass Insight convened
industry-led project work groups representing institutions across
the public and private sectors to explore large-scale projects where
multi-institutional, cross-sector collaboration could create value
that no single institution or sector could on its own. Mass Insight
is facilitating and organizing the campaign to raise additional
funds for two large-scale R&D collaborative projects:
The CIBC addresses the significant opportunity
to accelerate the development of new therapeutics for the treatment
of human disease by leveraging the collective R&D capability represented
in the region’s life science industry, universities, academic medical
centers and hospitals. The project would advance the use of imaging
biomarkers for early evidence of therapeutic efficacy before taking
candidates into clinical testing as well for use as surrogate endpoints
for regulatory approval. more>>
This project brings together Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution, UMass, MIT and industry. The goal is to establish a
$100 million+ center in southeastern Massachusetts to compete for
the northeast NSF ORION ocean observation project and make Massachusetts
a national center for fisheries, weather, climate and ocean management
research.
