Research and Innovation Institutes Focused on Global Challenges

Bigger and Bolder: The Scale Needed to Lead

Massachusetts has the opportunity compete in a global scale by creating a $750 million research and development program that fosters collaboration between the state, industry and public and private universities. The program would leverage $250 million ($50 million per year for five years) in state capital investment to land 4 or 5 $150 million-plus Global Research & Innovation Institutes: University/Industry Alliances – funded largely by federal and private sources – connected to areas of core science & technology strengths throughout the Commonwealth.
