U.S.-China-India Innovation Partnerships Leadership Conference

2008 U.S. -China-India Innovation Partnerships Conference:
Integrating Policy, Markets, Technology and Talent Development to Meet Global Challenges

December 9-12, 2008, Boston, Massachusetts

Far different from the typical conference, this event is the cornerstone of a major new initiative to build lasting partnerships between university, industry, and government (U-I-G) leaders in the U.S. and Asia to address global challenges in the key fields of finance, life sciences, and climate change/energy, with information technology as a cross-cutting theme. Massachusetts is uniquely suited to serve as host to this important event, thanks to its flourishing “innovation ecosystem”: a balance of research universities producing knowledge and talent, “soft skill” assets – such as lawyers and finance professionals – supporting entrepreneurship, and a culture that encourages new business ventures.

The conference provides multiple days of valuable opportunities: One on-site day spent attending sector-specific addresses, presentations, and discussion sessions, another at off-site partner-building events, and a final day dedicated to innovation partnerships between universities and industry, talent development, and the global university – topics critically important to all three of our focus sectors. The cross-cutting theme of information technology will run throughout.

The Conference will:

  • Announce plans for Asia-focused Global Research Institutes
  • Offer insight into key government policy issues and emerging market responses through white papers, panel discussions and presentations
  • Foster innovation and talent partnerships and expand networking and business opportunities between universities, industry, and government
  • Provide perspectives on U.S. policy initiatives under a new president through leading advisors to the administration and high-level elected officials
  • Showcase U.S., Chinese and Indian universities and their partner corporations
