Our History
1989
Mass Insight Corporation formed by William Guenther, with partners John Gorman, Joseph Alviani, Raymond Torto, and Kevin Harrington. First quarterly public opinion poll conducted, including Massachusetts Consumer Confidence index.
Early 1990s
Leadership Groups: The Healthcare Leadership Group, with members representing purchasers, hospitals, doctors, equipment manufacturers, pharma, biotech and professional firms, produced a series of short briefing reports to help influence the debate on how to shape the healthcare system in Massachusetts.
The Environmental Resource Group produced a series of briefings, conferences and reports on clean water, transportation, permitting and the financing strategies required to address these issues.
The Clean Water Council was a public-private partnership of mayors, municipal managers, major public agencies and professionals from the private sector.
1996
First in a series of business expansion reports released; reports addressed factors affecting the Massachusetts economy, including location-based competitive advantages, the link between business and higher education, and the need for a technology-based economic development strategy.
2000-2005: State’s first-ever Science and Technology Initiative
2000
Call to Action report released; report identified university-industry links and the need for an economic development strategy in the state.
2002
Economy at Risk report released; report outlined key elements of an economic development strategy with state match funds.
2003
Economic Stimulus Bill established state match fund facility advocated by Mass Insight.
2004
Technology Audit and Road Map released; technology audit identified core technology strengths; Road Map provided framework for state investments and called for university-industry partnerships.
2006-2009 Global Mass Initiative
2006-2007
Work groups completed work on sector-based talent and innovation strategy in financial services, life sciences, climate change/energy and the tech sectors/defense. Studies produced with help from McKinsey provide recommendations for building regional alliances and global partnerships in key sectors.
2008
U.S., China & India Innovation Partnerships Conference, which brought together key business leaders and academics from across the world to discuss innovation and partnership strategies in the global economy.
2009
Boston Financial Services Leadership Council formalized. In collaboration with the Ash Institute of the Harvard Kennedy School, three-week Beijing Financial Services Leadership Program executed for 25 government officials sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Government.
2010
Advanced Cyber Security Center begins pilot operations. Planning in process for 2010-2011 Cross-National Leadership Development program for Shanghai government.
