| Boston, Massachusetts, November 15, 2006 — Microsoft Advertorial Supports Global Challenge Centers for Innovation Microsoft, a corporate sponsor of Global Massachusetts 2015, asked Bill Guenther to author an advertorial that is running this week in the Wall Street Journal northeast edition on Wednesday November 15, Boston Globe op-ed page and the Boston Herald on November 16, and the Boston Business Journal on November 17. The Global Massachusetts 2015 Leadership Priorities developed by our major business group partners have the Global Challenge Centers as a leading focus. The 2004 Mass Insight/Battelle Technology Road Map provides the framework for selecting where to invest. Aternative energy, IT/communications, marine/ocean science and bio-nano opportunities are among the candidates for these large -scale collaborative R&D centers which would build talent and innovation clusters and fuel business expansions and job growth in the state. The California Science Institutes, mentioned in the Advertorial, represent four new University of California multi-campus collaborations with industry, each funded by $100 million of state capital funds matched by $200 million of federal and industry funds. These institutes are a model for the Global Challenge Centers advocated by Global Massachusetts 2015 for the Commonwealth.
